Regional innovation competitions between school ICT clubs have been organized as part of the preparations for the NCC 2022 where regional winners will compete at the conference to determine the national winner.
The regional events were scheduled as follows:
● Western: 30 May 2022 at Hive Colab, 4th Floor - Amazon Building, Mbarara City. The competing schools were Ntare School, Mbarara High School, St. Joseph’s Vocational School, and Bubangizi Secondary School. Ntare School's project titled "Up Farm" emerged victorious.
● Central: 1 June 2022 at the CEDAT Conference Hall, Makerere University. The competing schools were Trinity College Nabbingo, Namilyango College, St. Mary's College Kisubi, Kalinabiri SS, Kansanga Seed SS, and St. Henry's College Kitovu. St. Mary's College Kisubi's project titled "School Eye" emerged victorious.
● Northern: 6 June 2022 at Kolping Hotel, Masindi. The competing schools were Masindi SS, Arua SS, Dr. Obote College and St. Gracious SS, Lira. St. Gracious SS, Lira's project titled "Green Smart Farm" emerged victorious.
● Eastern: 8 June 2022 at Paradise on the Nile Hotel, Jinja. The competing schools were Kongunga High School, Busoga College Mwiri, Iganga SS and Tororo Girls School. Tororo Girls School's project titled "Tower TV" emerged victorious.
The four winners of the regional ICT innovation competitions will automatically participate in the national competition on June 22, 2022. However, two extra schools i.e. St. Henry's College Kitovu and Iganga SS have been selected to join the national competition given the high potential of their projects.
The competition was held in collaboration with CyLab-Africa picoCTF-Africa’s Initiative. The objective of this challenge was to raise awareness of cybersecurity and elicit interest in the cybersecurity career path.
